Think back to being a kid with me for a second.
We all had our hero’s. For you, maybe it was Superman, or Spiderman. I remember that my sister loved The Carebears and My Little Pony.
For me, my hero was Luke Skywalker from Star Wars. I grew up as part of the Starwars generation. I spent countless hours as a kid re-enacting scenes from Starwars with my friends on the play ground or at home.
Imagining I was blasting aliens on Tatooine, using the force to knock out bad guys, and slicing arms off of monsters with my light saber. And always winning at the end of it all.
I had all of the gear to go along with it: my own laser blaster, light saber, and whatever clothes I could get that resembled Skywalker as much as possible from the movies.
I even remember wanting to change my name to Luke Skywalker. It’s true! Just ask my sister.
Luke Skywalker was my hero. He embodied everything I thought a hero should be. He was brave, cunning, humble, and he got to fly around in kick-butt spaceships at hyperspeed.
Now that I’m grown up (a little bit), somewhere along the line I’ve lost that fancy for movie heros. But that doesn’t mean I don’t notice them in movies, or realize that the world still needs them to give kids these days someone to look up to.
Then It Hit Me One Day
I was thinking to myself that this world needs a hero. Someone who’s there to always answer the call for help.
Someone who’s willing to take the bullet for you.
Someone who can’t be killed.
Someone who is brave, trustworthy, faithful, kind hearted, strong, and able to shake things up when needed for the better of the world.
I realized I was thinking that because I felt that the world was without a hero – at least in the physical sense.
Then it hit me…we do have a hero. Someone who was promised for centuries, and once he was here, someone that the world could believe in.
He arrives, teaches us, saves us by dying for us. Resurrected, and lives in heaven, as well as our hearts.
Folks, We’ve Found Our Hero
It’s Jesus Christ. I think it’s time we start to recognize this, and learn to start following his lead, at least a little bit.
So, do you think this world needs a hero? Well, here ya go…Jesus Christ is the hero we are all desperately seeking. Just open your eyes and start looking for him. I did.
I even found the perfect song to go along with this. It a song called “Hero” by Abandon.
